As a student at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR), I have been granted the opportunity to focus not only on academia, but my personal interests in the arts and nature. The freedom that I have had while pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences to explore alternative methods of healing is summarized by this portfolio. In this website, I express my thoughts regarding my journey through UMR and experiences during my capstone experience.

As I have mentioned, my personal interests fall into the arts and nature categories, but during my capstone experience, I largely focused on these themes in relation to disaster. Disaster on a basic level is defined by a disruption that causes unfortunate consequences, and can define both illness and mass trauma. To illustrate the journey through disaster, I have organized my thoughts by the themes balance, destruction, and healing. This project stemmed from a previous study abroad experience focused on holistic healing; and I expected to observe the same effects that I had during that experience, but ended up with something much greater.

My unique experiences throughout my capstone have provided me insight into patient care and critical information on the healing process. The healing process is a holistic experience that cannot be solved through medications alone, especially when thinking about mass trauma, effecting many people. My acquired knowledge on a holistic healing process has aided me in processing a stressful time in my life, and will aid me throughout my future career and personal struggles.

Destruction
